Tani and his parents live with his grandparents in Albania, suffering under Communism, which falls in 1990. Missionaries come, preaching on the streets where Tani’s dad exhibits his paintings. They give him Bibles in the Albanian language, and Tani’s dad receives Christ while reading the Gospel of John. He stops painting to evangelize. Naïve Albanians fall into financial pyramid schemes that fail, leading to chaos. The first part ends as armed thieves try to steal missionaries’ cars.
