Paul grows up without his father but around a drunken uncle. As a child he hears a preacher talk about hell and is terrified. Still, he drinks and steals and ends up in juvenile prison, escapes and goes to maximum juvenile lock up. He drops out of school in the 7th grade, works and drinks; loses his license to a DUI. He meets Cordie and they marry, but he can’t quit drinking. He keeps seeing a Bible verse in granite on a church and finally calls on the name of Lord and is saved. Now a pastor in Texas.
