Charles goes to church with his granny but rebels at 14 and quits as he sees hypocrisy in people. He starts drinking with friends, steals, uses marijuana and drag races. He meets Jennie and they marry three months later, then he resumes his old life, refusing to go to church with her. A biker comes into his workplace and invites him to church. That day Charles is fired for insubordination, leading to a fight with Jennie. He promises to go to church, and the next day they do. There he is led to Christ, ending the first part.
