Al witnesses to inmates in the jail and the judge, who dismisses the charges. Al also shares the gospel with a neighbor, John; but he is awkward as he continues his odyssey West, seeking God’s will. He stops in Wichita and works for an airplane company where he has his first experience seeing someone yield to Christ. He drives on to Los Angeles, where he hears a Messianic Jew on Christian radio and learns personal evangelism with him. He quits his job to attend a missionary training school and goes to Africa as a missionary for three years. He does well at evangelism but has problems with other missionaries. Eventually, he leaves the mission to be an independent missionary, going to 40 countries.
