Ron’s mother abandons the family when he is four. His grandma takes him to church and prays with him, so Ron asks God to spare grandma as she is dying of heart failure. Grandma dies leaving Ron disillusioned with God. He joins a gang, then joins the army to fight in Vietnam, becoming an Airborne. A black soldier witnesses to him. Ron is wounded by mortar, and the black soldier saves his life. Ron marries but the marriage ends in divorce. He is disillusioned at America’s treatment of Vietnam vets and becomes a hermit. After eight years, he marries Glenda. Her brother invites them to church, and after a nephew witnesses to Ron, he finally receives Christ.
