At age eight Bernie loses father; but with Mother’s dedication, he grows up wanting to be a missionary to China. Bernie’s love of music distracts him from the faith, but he surrenders to Christ in college. He spends war in Texas teaching radar and doing evangelism; marries Jeanette. After the war, China is closed, so the couple goes instead to Japan as missionaries. Bernie helps launch Pacific Broadcasting Association.
