Tommy grows up hating his father for drinking that leaves the family on welfare. He quits going to church and hangs out with friends, drinking and stealing. Grandmother’s godly influence ends with her death. Tommy quits school, drifts for ten years, in and out of jail for minor offenses. Then he deals crack and gets hooked. Family intervenes, take him to Pacific Garden Mission where he receives Christ. He finishes Bible college, then gets Doctorate in Theology. Now a chaplain in the U.S. Army.
