Dave grows up with an alcoholic father and a mother who prays, reads the Bible and takes him to church. He fakes a conversion at age nine to please her. At thirteen he lives with a farmer for three years and learns many valuable lessons. Dave goes home and takes up drinking with friends. He joins the army and marries, but his drinking destroys his work and his marriage. The army gives him a less-than honorable discharge. His marriage ends and he’s arrested for writing bad checks. His nephew’s sudden death leads Dave to call a Christian cousin, then he prays for salvation. He quit drinking, meets and marries Mary, but the anger persists until pastors help him use scripture to root out the past.
